Our Gamma review
Gamma earns its place in the AI presentation tools shortlist for pitch decks, provided limited fine layout control is not a dealbreaker.
We score Gamma 4.5 out of 5 — excellent ease of use, strong performance and strong value for money.
What Gamma is
Gamma is Gamma's AI presentation tools product, launched in 2020. AI deck builder that turns prompts or documents into presentations, docs and websites.
It is aimed at beginner users — the learning curve is very gentle. Day one you would use it for pitch decks, donor proposals and training slides. It runs on Web, with no mobile app, and there is no public API.
Where it shines
In testing against the rest of the category, two things stand out: beautiful defaults and very fast. The feature set behind that is prompt to deck, import docs, themes & brand kits and analytics.
We rate performance 4.4/5 and answer accuracy around 88% for the tasks in this category, which is why it holds up for pitch decks and donor proposals.
Where it falls short
Where it frustrated us: limited fine layout control.
Nothing here needs training, so the risk is not difficulty — it is paying for capability you never use.
Pricing and value for money
Pricing is Free credits · Plus $10/mo · Pro $20/mo. At $10 a month that is $120 a year per person, in line with the rest of the category (the category median is about $12). A free tier exists, so you can test it properly before paying.
If budget is the constraint, look at the free tiers of the alternatives below. Our cost calculator will show what adding Gamma does to your monthly stack before you commit.
Who should use Gamma
Gamma is the right call for pitch decks, donor proposals and training slides. Skip it if limited fine layout control is a bigger problem for you than beautiful defaults is a benefit.
The alternatives worth comparing are Tome ($16/mo) and Beautiful.ai ($12/mo). Put them side by side before you buy.
Recommended: Gamma at $10/mo is best used for pitch decks and donor proposals, and it earns 4.5/5 from us.
