Our Motion review
Motion is a solid AI productivity option: strongest at time blocking, weakest on no free plan.
We score Motion 4.0 out of 5 — solid ease of use, strong performance and acceptable value for money.
What Motion is
Motion is Motion's AI productivity product, launched in 2019. AI calendar and project manager that schedules your tasks automatically around meetings.
It is aimed at intermediate users — the learning curve is moderate. Day one you would use it for time blocking and agency project planning. It runs on Web, iOS, Android and Desktop, including a mobile app, and there is an API if you want it inside your own systems.
Where it shines
The core strengths are easy to state: genuinely saves planning time. The feature set behind that is auto scheduling, project planning, meeting booking and workload balancing.
We rate performance 4.4/5 and answer accuracy around 85% for the tasks in this category, which is why it holds up for time blocking and agency project planning.
Where it falls short
The honest downsides: no free plan and rigid at first.
Expect a real ramp-up — we rate the learning curve moderate. Budget time for it before judging the tool.
Pricing and value for money
Pricing is Pro AI $34/mo. At $34 a month that is $408 a year per person, at the expensive end of its category (the category median is about $10). There is no free tier, so trial it deliberately before committing.
If budget is the constraint, Notion AI at $10/mo does much of the same work. Our cost calculator will show what adding Motion does to your monthly stack before you commit.
Who should use Motion
Motion is the right call for time blocking and agency project planning. Look elsewhere if no free plan is a bigger problem for you than genuinely saves planning time is a benefit.
The alternatives worth comparing are Notion AI ($10/mo) and ClickUp AI ($7/mo). Put them side by side before you buy.
